LightNing Bugs Oh MY!!!

I DARE you to go outside tonight around 10pm here in Kentucky in your backyard and just sit and watch. The LIGHTNING BUGS are out of this world. I have never seen this many. I don't know if it is the rain or how the weather has been going but they are just OUT OF THIS WORLD. Never thought I would feel that way about a lightning bug. But I think I am in love. They are so magnificent if you really think about how they beam that light. There were tons of them outside tonight and we just sat and watched and it was like a strobe light audition. Some people call them fireflies. I have always called them Lightnin' bugs. When I was little we caught them every night and put them in a jar and it would GLOW. So coooool.

TRY IT one night = I dare you!!!! Let me know how it goes. Mother Nature is a beautiful thing. ENJOY!!!! Click HERE to enjoy a warm-up.

  1. All is right with the world when you surrender yourself to the happy times of a child. Loved the warm-up this early Sun. morning.

  2. I have fond memories of watching and catching lightening bugs with my brother when we were children. Caught them in an empty mayonnaise jar and watched them glow. I love them, too, even to this day!

  3. Your photo is amazing. I think the number of bugs has to do with the heat and humidity, but I am not positive. I am entranced by them too, just as I was as a child in NY. Ca, where I spent most of my childhood and early adulthood does not have them. Great posts, paula.
